Why is Mater Dei (California) the No. 1 team in the High School Football America 300 preseason national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football? There are a lot of answers, but one of the biggest answers is tons of returning talent.

While MD is always known for quarterbacks and skilled players, it always starts up-front. Once again in 2023, the Monarchs are strong with seniors Brandon Baker and DeAndre Carter.

The 6-5, 285-pound tackle is considered the No. 1 overall OL prospect in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 5-star college football prospect has 27 college scholarship offers with the On3 putting Oregon and USC at the top of the teams that have a shot at landing him.

At 6-4, 340, Carter is also still thinking about where he’ll play his college football. He’s ranked as the No. 7 offensive line prospect with a 4-star rating from 247 composite rankings.

Below High School Football America lists other top linemen from around the nation.
