Top-ranked Thornton Academy caps perfect season with Maine Class A championship

For the fifth time since 2012, Thornton Academy is a Maine high school football champ. Saturday, the Trojans beat Oxford Hills 42-27 for the state’s Class A championship. Heading into the game at Fitzpatrick Stadium, Thornton was ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America Maine Top 5, powered by NFL Play Football, while Oxford Hills was No. 2.

This one was never in doubt with TA building a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Thornton finishes 11-0 in 2021, while Oxford Hills wraps-up an 8-2 season with both losses coming against the Trojans.

Overall, Thornton Academy has now won ten Maine high school football titles.
