The showdown is set! The top spot in the Trinity League, California Top 25 and High School Football America 300 national rankings will be on the line next week when No. 1 Mater Dei squares-off with No. 2 St. John Bosco at Santa Ana Stadium.

Friday night, both teams took care of business to set up what will probably be the first of two between the Southern California titans.

Four-time HSFA national champ Mater Dei beat JSerra, No. 35 in the HSFA 300, 31-17. Quarterback Dash Beierly, a Washington-recruit, threw for three TDs and ran for another.

Bosco played No. 31 Servite at SoFi Stadium, home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Rams. Before about 7,000 fans in the NFL stadium, freshman QB Koa Malau’ulu completed 14-of-20 passes with three touchdown passes in Bosco’s 27-17 win.

No. 11 Orange Lutheran stayed in the league title hunt with a 13-10 win over No. 71 Santa Margarita. Quarterback TJ Lateef, a Nebraska verbal commit, threw for 238 yards.

OLu, who has only lost in league play to SJB, will play Servite next week and close-out with a road game at Mater Dei.
