With a 42-0 record as Allen‘s (Texas) starting quarterback, it’s no surprise that Texas A&M-bound Kyler Murray is USA Today‘s Offensive Player of the Year and also a member of the 2014 All-USA Team.

The honors keep rolling-in for Murray, who last Saturday, led the Eagles to their third straight state title in Texas’ largest classification.  Earlier this month, Murray was named Gatorade’s National Player of the Year.  On Sunday, High School Football America named Allen as our national champion for the third straight year.

On the other side of the ball, USA Today chose Georgia-bound Trent Thompson of Westover High School in Albany, Georgia as its Defensive Player of the YearAccording to USA Today‘s story on Thompson, he recorded 84 tackles despite being double- and triple-teamed all season.

USA Today‘s Coach of the Year goes to Bishop Gorman‘s Tony Sanchez, who led the Gaels to their sixth straight Nevada state title in 2014.  Just last week, Sanchez, who was 85-5 as Gorman’s leader, was named the head coach at UNLV.
