With 18 returning starers, look for Bergen Catholic to be ranked highly when the Preseason Hight School Football America 100 is released in early summer. During last year’s COVID-19 shortened season, BC finished as the top team in New Jersey and No. 31 in the High School Football America 100 national rankings powered by BlackMP Living Water.

Head coach Vito Campanile is blessed with a ton of talent starting with senior-to-be quarterback Steve Angeli, who recently gave his verbal commitment to Notre Dame. He’s the No. 4 college football prospect in the state in the 247sports.com composite rankings in the Class of 2022.

Angeli is joined on the Class of 2022 list by defensive back Jaeden Gould, who is ranked No. 2 in the latest composite rankings. Cornerback Jayden Bellamy is ranked No. 7 in the state. Defensive end DJ Samuels, who was the only sophomore on NJ.com’s all-state team, will help the Crusaders up-front defensively.

Below, Campanile looks ahead to what should be an outstanding season for BC.
