CC won the 6A title last year averaging over 47.5 points per game.

Year-in and year-out, IMG, ranked No. 2 in the state of Florida and No. 4 in the nation, has one of the best defenses in America, thanks to plenty of Division I talent. Last year, the Ascenders, who won our national title in 2020, allowed only 9.9 points per game during a perfect 10-0 season.

Below is an IMG preview from FloFootball

IMG Academy Holds an NFL Draft Record with 1st-Round Picks in Five Consecutive Drafts

With the Alabama Crimson Tide’s JC Latham selected No. 7 overall by the Tennessee Titans, and JJ McCarthy out of Michigan going 10th to the Minnesota Vikings, IMG Academy extended its run of consecutive NFL Drafts with an alum taken in the 1st Round to five. That’s the most for any high school in NFL Draft history.

Latham and McCarthy also combined to make another bit of history for IMG Academy, as 2024 was the first time two Ascenders were selected in the 1st Round in the same year. IMG Academy’s run of consecutive 1st Rounders is as follows:

  • 2020: Cesar Ruiz (Michigan), No. 24 — New Orleans Saints
  • 2021: Greg Newsome (Northwestern), No. 26 — Cleveland Browns
  • 2022: Evan Neal (Alabama), No. 7 — New York Giants
  • 2023: Nolan Smith (Georgia), No. 3 — Philadelphia Eagles

Recent College Football National Champions Have Had an IMG Academy Alum on the Roster

With JJ McCarthy at quarterback, offensive lineman Greg Crippen and defensive back Keon Sabb, the 2023 college football season’s national champion Michigan Wolverines featured a trio of IMG Academy alumni.

Michigan’s run to the College Football Playoff championship made it three consecutive seasons with the national-title winners featuring Ascenders on the roster. Back-to-back champion Georgia featured Nolan Smith at linebacker in both 2021 and 2022, and Lovasea Carroll as a rotational defensive back in 2021.

The dominant 2020 Alabama team that claimed the final national championship of Nick Saban’s historic career included Evan Neal on the offensive line and Dylan Moses at linebacker, and defensive back Grant Delpit was an All-American on the 2019 LSU Tigers.

Expect the 2024 season to continue IMG Academy’s presence in the College Football Playoff championship picture. Preseason No. 1 Georgia has Daylen Everette in the secondary, where he’s joined by the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2024 signing class, Ellis Robinson IV.

Other teams tabbed for Playoff contention ahead of the 2024 college season like Ohio State prominently feature Ascenders: Ohio State has Carnell Tate back at wide receiver after a promising freshman campaign; 2023 national semifinalist Texas added newcomers Jordon Johnson-Rubell and Jerrick Gibson; and Keon Sabb transferred to Alabama in the offseason, joining fellow IMG Academy product Jihaad Campbell in the first year of the Kalen DeBoer era.

The 2024 IMG Academy Roster Features 12 Combined Top 247 Recruits in the 2025 and 2026 Classes

The role IMG Academy has played in shaping the college football landscape in recent years shows no sign of slowing, with the 2024 Ascenders roster featuring six of 247Sports.com’s top 247 recruits in the 2025 signing class, and six from the 2026 signing class.

2025 Class

  • Donovan Olugbode, WR
  • Nathaniel Owusu Boateng, LB
  • Gavin Nix, LB (Miami commit)
  • London Merritt, DL
  • Michael Carroll, OL (Alabama commit)
  • Ty Hawkins, QB

2026 Class

  • Elijah Golden, DL
  • Keenyi Pepe, OT
  • Zech Fort, S
  • Jake Kreul, Edge
  • Dominick Kelly, CB
  • Cameron McHaney, DL

With the bevy of elite prospects leading the Ascenders in 2024, IMG Academy promises to make a strong case for the national high school championship.

The Corner Canyon/IMG game can be watched on FloFootball at 9 PM Eastern.
