John Renaldo of Wayne Hills High School in Wayne, NJ has been named this week’s Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa. Coach Renaldo will receive a $2,000 donation to benefit the school’s flag football program. Along with the monetary donation, Coach Renaldo will be invited to attend the New York Jets preseason game in August, where he will be honored on field at MetLife Stadium.

In its first year, the Jets Girls Flag High School Coach of the Week Game Changer presented by Visa award is given to a coach in the Tri-State area who serves the best interests of the game through the teaching of sound football fundamentals, the motivation of young players to achieve and the promotion of youth football by way of dedication to their community, their school and their student-athletes.

Last week, the Patriots claimed the divisional championship in a 26-4 win over town rival Wayne Valley. Just days later, the team- led by Renaldo- won back-to-back playoff games against Nutley and Shabazz in the same day to advance in the title run. Renaldo grew up in Wayne and graduated from DePaul Catholic, where he played football, basketball, and track before continuing his football career at University of Delaware as a wide receiver. He’s coached basketball at his alma mater for the last 10 years but has experience in flag from serving as an assistant at Indian Hills last season. He also coaches youth flag in the NFL’s North Jersey Flag Football League (NJFFL) and Wayne Under the Lights. The Patriots are currently 8-1 and will play Ridgewood in the SFC semi-finals.

Visa and the NFL have teamed up to help teach financial concepts with Financial Football, a fast-paced interactive game that engages students while teaching them money management skills. Students of all ages learn key concepts about saving and spending, budgeting, and the wise use of credit in preparation for game play. Check out the game here: https://www.financialfootball.com/
