Friday night, in a battle of state champions, No. 4 Lake Taylor, the state’s defending Class 4 champ, fell behind 14-0 to defending Class 5 champ Maury, ranked No. 5 in the Virginia Top 10, before storming back to win 27-14. The last time these two met in 2019, Maury routed LT 49-7.

Two other Top 10 teams lost on Friday — Chantilly beat No. 7 Centreville 14-7 and No. 8 Lake Braddock was edged by Robinson 43-42.

No. 10 Salem (Salem) (3-0) beat Patrick Henry 35-17
