The 135th battle between Massachusetts rivals Needham and Wellesley goes to the Raiders of Wellesley.

On Thursday, Wellesley beat their arch-rival 24-17 to take a 66-60-9 in the series that dates back to 1882. The game is known as the first-ever Thanksgiving high school football game.

Wellesley jumped-out to a 21-0 lead. Needham closed to within four points before Eddie Webb booted a 32-yard field goal to give the Raiders a 24-17 lead with about seven-and-a-half minutes to play in the game. The Wellesley defense stopped three Needham drives to close-out the victory.

Quarterback Vincent Ferrara tossed a touchdown pass and ran for one for Wellesley. He finished 18-of-27 for 160 yards.

Wellesley now has won four straight in the series.
