Westside overcame a two-score deficit in the fourth quarter Saturday to beat reigning South Carolina 4A champ South Florence in the 2023 state championship game at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg. The 34-32 win gave Westside its first state title since 1969 and snapped South Florence’s 29-game win streak. South Florence entered the game ranked No. 85 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
