For the third straight week, there’s major shuffling in the High School Football America Top 100 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.

Let’s start in the Top 10 where No. 4 Grayson (Georgia) and No. 9 St. Ignatius (Ohio) tasted their first defeats of the season.

Grayson tumbles 23 spots to No. 27 after losing 6-3 to former No. 95 Archer in a game that featured only field goals.  Archer jumps to No. 43 after snapping Grayson’s 20 game win streak.

For those wondering why Archer doesn’t pass Grayson, the Tigers’ strength of schedule isn’t as strong as the Rams, owners quality wins over No. 28 Hoover (Alabama) and No. 29 John Curtis (Louisiana).

Speaking of Hoover, the Bucs are hurt by the Grayson’s loss. Hoover drops eight spots this week, because of the Rams’ loss.

Trinity (Kentucky) moves-up one spot to No. 4, followed by St. Xavier (Ohio) at No. 5, DeSoto (Texas) at No. 6 and South Pointe (South Carolina) at No. 7.

Miami Central jumps three this week to No. 8.  This weekend, the Rockets, whose only loss is to No. 2 IMG Academy (Florida) takes-on No. 37 Northwestern (Florida) this week.  Northwestern’s only loss is also to IMG.

Speaking of IMG, the Ascenders travel to Utah this week to take-on No. 36 East.  The Leopards only loss was to Bingham, which moves-up five spots this week to No. 16 after closing-out the regular season with a perfect 9-0 record.

The two aforementioned games are two of six within the Top 100 this weekend.

No. 5 St. Xavier plays No. 38 St. Ignatius, which dropped 29 spots after being upset by Archbishop Moeller (Ohio) on Friday.

In the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference No. 24 St. John’s College High School (Washington, D.C.) takes-on No. 93 DeMatha, which has lost two straight.  Last weekend, the Stags lost in overtime to their arch-rival Good Counsel (Maryland), which comes back into the Top 100 at No. 92 after that win.

There are two Top 100 match-ups in New Jersey this week. No. 31 Bergen Catholic, fresh-off its win over former No. 25 St. Peter’s Prep, plays No. 99 Pope John XXIII, which lost its first game of the season 20-14 to St. Joseph’s Regional (Montvale), which climbs seven spots to No. 39 after the win.  Lions fall a notch this week.

St. Joe’s will try to keep it rolling against St. Peter’s, which dropped from No. 25 to No. 34 after its loss to Bergen Catholic.

And, you won’t have to wait until next weekend for the first Top 100 showdown.  Monday night, No. 50 Armwood will square-off with No. 75 Plant.

Aside from Good Counsel re-entering the rankings, Phillips Academy from Illinois enters at No. 99.  The Wildcats are a great story, coming-out of the Chicago Public School League.  Phillips opened the season with a quality win over Loyola Academy, which started the season ranked No. 23 in the High School Football America Preseason Top 100.
