Four Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) championship games will be played on National Football League turf in 2024.
The WPIAL has announced that the 5A, 3A, 2A and 1A championship will be played at Acrisure Stadium, home of the NFL’s Pittsburgh Steelers on November 23. The powerful league also announced the Class 6A and 4A title games will be played November 16 at Norwin High School.
The reason that the WPIAL isn’t playing all the championship at Acrisure is because the 6A and 4A champs move into the state quarterfinals. The other four champs move on to the state semifinals.
Prior to changes in the Pennsylvania state playoffs, all of the WPIAL championship games were hosted by the Steelers.
The last time the 6A title game was played in Acrisure, formerly Heinz Field, was in 2019.
