For the first time ever, MaxPreps has had a high school football player win its National Player of the Year Award in back-to-back seasons.
Allen (Texas) quarterback Kyler Murray picked-up the honor Monday after leading his school to its third straight Texas championship in December. Murray had a hand in 79 touchdowns this past season for the Eagles while throwing for 4,713 yards and rushing for 1,495. Murray was undefeated as a high school football quarterback.
In addition to winning three straight state titles, Murray was the trigger-man for three straight High School Football America national championships.
Jake Browning of Folsom was runner-up for the award.
