Nationally-ranked East St. Louis (No. 64), Mount Carmel (No. 89) and Lincoln-Way East (No. 119) captured 2019 Illinois high school football state championships over the weekend at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern Illinois University.

In 8A, Lincoln-Way East won its second state title in three years with a 12-0 win over Warren Township in a battle of unbeatens. The Griffins finish a perfect 14-0.

The 7A championship game was a battle of state-powers with plenty of hardware between them. Mount Carmel (Chicago) won its 13th overall high school football state championship with 37-13 win over defending champ Nazareth Academy, which brought a 20-game win streak into the contest. NA has played in five of the last six championship games, winning three of them.

The 6A title went to East St. Louis with a 43-21 win over Prairie Ridge. The championship is the ninth overall for the Flyers.

Rochester captured its eight state championship in the last ten years with a 42-28 win over St. Rita in the 5A championship game. It was Rochester’s first 5A score.
