New London and Norwich Free Academy battled Thanksgiving for the 162nd time in the high school football game that started it all. The two schools are known for playing the first-ever high school football game in 1875.
With a state playoff spot on the line, New London beat their arch-rivals 52-21 to wrap-up the eighth spot in the Class M playoffs that begin on Tuesday. Leading the way was running back Demitrias Fletcher, who Fletcher ran for 207 yards on 16 carries with six touchdowns. He also nabbed three passes for 101 yards and two scores.
NFA still leads the all-time series leads 81-70-11.
