There’s no doubt that South Panola has been on-top of the Mississippi high school football scene over the past decade. Thursday night, Clinton, the #38 team in the High School Football America Preseason Top 50, served notice that it’s ready to challenge for the state’s top spot with a 38-26 win over South Panola.
Clinton (1-0), behind quarterback Cam Akers, beat the Tigers for the first time in 16 years. Akers, who is a running back playing quarterback, completed 14-of-22 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns, plus he rushed for 180 yards and two TDs.
