7X Georgia high school football state championship coach moving to South Carolina

Jonathan Gess, who won seven Georgia high school football championships, including last season’s Private 1A-3A state title, is the new head football coach at Southside Christian School in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

Last season, Gess led Hebron Christian Academy to its first-ever Georgia high school football title. In his three years at Hebron, the Dacula school went 27-10.

Before HCA, Gess led Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy to six state titles, including five in a row from 2015 through 2019. ELCA became the first Georgia school to win five straight high school football state championships. During his 15-years at ELCA, Gess posted a record of 160-39 (.804) with nine double-digit win seasons.

Gess heads to Southside Christian, which finished 2-8 last year, with a lifetime record of 187-49.
