Leading the way are the two reigning 6A champs DeSoto and Duncanville.

6A Division II champ DeSoto starts at No. 6. Last month, the Eagles won the Texas 7-on-7 Division I state championship. They’ll open the regular season against Georgia 5A state finalist Creekside, which opens the year at No. 86.

6A Division I champ Duncanville opens the year at No. 8. Like DeSoto, the Panthers have a strong out-of-state opponent in No. 18 St. Frances Academy of Maryland in mid-September.

The real in-state test comes on October 11 when Duncanville travels to DeSoto in their District 11-6A battle.
