Reigning 5A champ Timpview is off to a flying start after winning its opener against Skyridge 33-29. Both teams entered the game ranked in the Preseason High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Skyridge opened at No. 123, while the Thunderbirds should improve on their No. 181 ranking when our first in-season ranking comes out of August 25.

Skyridge led the entire way until just a few seconds were left in the game. Carson Rasmussen connected with wide receiver Jaron Pula on a short 1-yard game-winning touchdown pass.
The Timpview defense shutout the Falcons in the second half after they took a 29-14 lead into the halftime locker room.
