Atascocita and Coppell move up in the latest High School Football America Texas Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, after big wins.
Coppell moves five spots to No. 9 after beating former No. 9 Denton Guyer 31-24. The win puts the Cowboys at the top of District 5-6A with Lewisville. Both have 2-0 records.
Atascocita moves from No. 5 to No. 4 after an exciting 42-39 win over No. 7 Summer Creek. The Eagles led 35-7 before Summer Creek battled back to take a 39-35 lead. That’s when the Eagles put together a 72-yard drive that ended with Tory Blaylock scoring from a yard out with just :12 seconds to play.
Now, attention turns to the District 11-6A showdown between No. 1 Duncanville and No. 5 DeSoto. Duncanville has won the last two Class 6A Division I state titles. DeSoto has won two straight 6A Division II crowns.
Duncaville has won three of the last four between the two. DeSoto won last year’s game 49-35.
