Florida extends the 2024 high school football season because of the hurricanes.

After two major hurricanes, the Florida High School Athletic Association is extending the 2024 high school football regular season by a week. Monday, the FHSAA announced that the last day for games will now be Thursday, November 7.

The state is able to extend the season thanks to an already scheduled off week between the state semifinals and state championships in Class 1A through 7A. The regional quarterfinals will now begin on November 15, along with the regional semifinals in the Rural classification.

2024 Florida High School Football Regional Tournament Dates

  • Regional Quarterfinals (1A-7A); Rural Regional Semifinals – November 15
  • Regional Semifinals (1A-7A); Rural Regional Finals – November 22
  • Regional Finals (1A-7A) – November 29

The state semifinals in Class 1A through 7A will begin December 6 with the championships to be played December 11-14.

Those title games have been awarded to Pitbull Stadium at Florida International.

  • State Semifinals (1A-7A) – December 6
  • State Championships (1A-7A) at Pitbull Stadium at FIU – December 11-14
  • Rural Classification – State Semifinals, November 29; State Championship, December 6

The Rural championship game will be played December 6 at The Range at H.G Morse Stadium at The Villages.
