Jeff Fruster is stepping down as the head coach of D.W. Daniel High School, ending a career that saw him win three state championships as a coach and two as a player. The 2021 Carolina Panthers High School Coach of the Year has been the program’s head coach over the last nine years. His record during that time was 92-20.
In addition to the three state championships in 2020, 2021 and 2023, Fruster led the Lions to six regional championships. He won state championships in ’95 and ’98 as a player at the school.
