While it wasn’t a flight to Hawaii, the Mission Viejo football team had  a 160 mile one-way road trip by bus Saturday for its second game of the season.  And, just like the previous week when the Diablos beat Baldwin (Hawaii) off-the-mainland, Bob Johnson‘s troops came away with another road victory to move to 2-0 on the young season.

Mission Viejo beat a very good Bakersfield Liberty team 27-14, which avenged last year’s 18-7 loss to the Patriots.  Liberty features UCLA verbal commit Krys Barnes, who’s rated as the sixth best inside linebacker prospect in the 247Sports Class of 2016 Composite Rankings.

The Diablos, ranked #10 in our 2015 SoCal Preseason Top 25, jumped out to a 27-0 third quarter lead behind senior quarterback Brock Johnson, who tossed two touchdown passes.  Running back Isaiah Miller chipped-in with 143 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns.

Next up for the Diablos is their first home game of the year against Oak Hills Friday night.
