For all of you that think that high school school football is concentrated to an elite few…fuhgeddaboutit!
The 2016 NFL Draft proved that the .08 percent of players that ascend from the high school ranks to pro ranks come from every corner of this great country. Yes, former Texas high school football players led the way with 32 being selected in Chicago last weekend, and Florida was right behind with 30, but at the end of the tally, 38 states, plus the the District of Columbia, along with Australia, Germany and Nigeria were represented in the 2016 NFL Draft.
In all, 243 high schools were represented in the draft. Glenville (Ohio), Good Counsel (Maryland), Mansfield Legacy (Texas), St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida), Walsh Jesuit (Ohio) and Wheatley (Texas) had two players each selected in the seven rounds.
