I’ve been a high school football journalist for over 40 years and  during that time I can’t remember an opening weekend like we’re about experience.  There are four games featuring Top 25 vs. Top 25 match-ups, plus two other teams in the High School Football America Top 25 presented by Krossover will face teams ranked in our Top 50.

The top of our next poll that will be released on Sunday could be dramatically affected as a result of #2 IMG Academy (Florida) playing at #8 Grayson (Georgia) and #3 Cedar Hill (Texas) hosting #5 Bishop Gorman (Nevada).  Both of those games will be played on Saturday and will be on national television.

In Texas, #6 Katy opens on the road against #17 Westlake, which means that five of the top eight teams in the nation are playing in an all-Top 25 game.  Katy is coming-off winning the Class 6A Division II title, while Westlake was runner-up in Class 6A Division I.

The fourth all-Top 25 match-up will be in Cincinnati where #19 Colerain opens the season against #24 Warren Central (Indiana).  WC is coming-off a 21-16 win against former #22 Center Grove (Indiana).

You can keep-up with all of these game by going to our Top 25 Scoreboard powered by Scorestream.
