Wheaton Warrenville South (Illinois) junior kicker Jack Olsen set a new single-game state record for field goals in a game last Friday Friday. He made eight field goals during a 26-0 victory over Metea Valley.
Olsen’s kicked field goals of of 48, 38, 24, 44, 25, 44, 45 and 20 yards put him into the state record book. He was 8-of-9 on the game, with his lone miss coming on a 52-yard try. Olsen missed the national record of nine field goals in a game that was set by Dominic Gutierrez of Albuquerque Menaul (New Mexico) against Newcomb (New Mexico) in 1990.
After making 3 of his 7 field goal attempts in 2017, Olsen bested the previous IHSA single-game record of five field goals, set by Bloomington Central Catholic’s Todd Kurz on in 1991.
