Five states tried and five states have failed to pass legislation limiting the age for tackle football. Now, Massachusetts lawmakers will try take its shot at legislation that would prevent kids from playing tackle football until after seventh grade.
The bill, known as “An Act for No Organized Head Impacts to Schoolchildren,” would impose financial penalties for any school or league that does not comply. The fine range from $2,000 to $10,000.
Media reports indicate that the bill may face strong headwinds, because several lawmakers, who originally supported the legislation, have dropped their support.
