Fernley (3A), Yerington (2A) and Pahranagat Valley (1A) captured Nevada high school football state titles this weekend.
After more than 50 years, Fernley’s wait for a state football title ended Saturday with a 24-20 win over defending state champ Churchill County. It was the school’s first title since 1964.

Fernley finishes 11-2, while Churchill County ends the season with a 10-2 record.
Yerington is this year’s 2A state champ after beating Lincoln County 32-22 on Saturday. It’s the school’s first state title since winning back-to-back titles in 2015 and 2014.

In 1A, Pahranagat Valley beat defending champ Spring Valley 28-14 to capture the school’s 21st state title, which is a state record.
PV, which has now won thirteen titles since 2001, was led by Reece Thornton, who ran for 117 yards and a touchdown, and Preston Higbee, who threw for 107 yards with a touchdown. He also ran for 61 yards and a score.
