Third time is the charm for No. 1 Catholic Memorial

After Super Bowl losses in 2018 and 2019, Catholic Memorial is finally a Massachusetts high school football champ. Thursday night, at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, the Knights beat King Philip Regional 42-18 for the state’s Division 2 state championship.

Catholic Memorial, ranked No. 1 in the High School Football America Massachusetts Top 10, powered by NFL Play Football, hadn’t won a Super Bowl trophy since 1978.

CM had great balance on offense. Junior quarterback JC Petrongolo completed 7 of his 14 passes for 137 yards with four touchdowns. Wide receiver Kole Osinubi caught two of them. unior receiver Jaedn Skeete had three receptions for 103 yards and a touchdown.

On the gorund, Carson Harwood ran for 135 yards on 16 carries. Datrell Jones picked-up 95 yards on nine carries with a touchdown.

Catholic Memorial finishes 12-0. King Philip, which entered the game ranked No. 5 in our Massachusetts Top 10, finishes 9-3.
