The Chicago Bears are honoring Phillip Rossberg, head coach of Argo Community, as the Week 8 winner of their High School Coach of the Week Award.
Below is part of a news release from the Bears:
Phillip Rossberg
On Oct. 14, Coach Rossberg helped lead his team, the Argo Argonauts (5-3), to a tight 32-29 conference game victory against the Shepard Astros (2-6) of Palos Heights. This victory made the Argonauts playoff eligible for the first time since 2013. Rossberg was recently promoted as Head Coach for the Argo men’s varsity football team early this year after being the offensive coordinator and associate head coach for the past two years. He began coaching as a volunteer in 2015 when he was the offensive coordinator of the sophomore team, eventually moving his way up to the varsity staff in 2018 as a running back and defensive back coach for two more years. In his early years, Rossberg played as a running back for the North Central College Cardinals for four years and earned First Team All-CCIW Running back in 2009. Outside of football, he is also a certified athletic trainer for winter and spring events and teaches Health, Physical Education, and Driver’s Education. His goal as a teacher and coach is to help students and athletes prepare themselves for success in school, sports and in life. The Argonauts will host the Evergreen Park Mustangs (6-2) on Thursday.
