Bishop Watterson beats No. 125 Toledo Central Catholic for Ohio DIII title

Bishop Watterson beat nationally-ranked Toledo Central Catholic 19-14 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium Friday for the Division III state championship. TCC, ranked No. 125 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, was going after a third straight state championship.

Toledo Central Catholic led 14-13 after it blocked an extra point with 10:28 to play in the game. After the Fighting Irish was unable to move the ball, they turned the ball back to Bishop Watterson with less than eight minutes to play.

A 15-play, 80-yard drive that ended with quarterback Drew Bellisari’s 9-yard TD run to give Bishop Watterson its state championship since 2010.
