After a 1-3 start, Calhoun can call itself a 2024 Georgia high school football champ. Wednesday, with a freshman quarterback, the Yellow Jackets beat Jefferson 20-7 for the Class 3A state championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons.
Trace Hawkins completed 16 of 25 passes for 184 yards, plus he ran nine times for 47 yards and one touchdown for Calhoun’s first state championship since 2017.
Overall, the state championship is the fifth for Calhoun. The Yellow Jackets finish on an eleven game win streak to finish 12-3 in 2024. Jefferson finishes 11-4.
