It’s time to hand out gold medals this weekend in California. Fifteen CIF State Football Championship Bowl games will be played Friday and Saturday at three locations in Southern California.

At the top of schedule is the Open Division championship game, which will have a big role in deciding who is the High School Football America national champ. In that game, four-time HSFA national champ Mater Dei, currently No. 1 in our national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, will play No. 26 De La Salle.

If Mater Dei beats DLS at Saddleback College on Sunday night, the Monarchs will win their fifth overall HSFA national title and second straight.

Aside from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, the California Interscholastic Federation will host state championship games at Fullerton Union High School District Stadium (FUHSDS) and Long Beach Community College (LBCC).

In addition to Mater Dei, El Capital (Lakeside), Highland (Palmdale) and Pittsburg are back to defending their 2023 state titles.
