Newbury Park jumps six spots in Week 15 of the High School Football America California Top 25 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Panthers sit at No. 14, their highest ever rankings, after beating Murrieta Valley 31-28 for the CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship.
This week, Newbury Park will play No. 12 Lincoln (San Diego) in the Southern CIF Regional Football Championship Bowl Game. The winner moves to state championship game to play the winner of the northern championship game between No. 7 Folsom and No. 13 Pittsburg.
Top-ranked Mater Dei will play for its fifth CIF Open Division championship in two weeks after beating No. 2 St. John Bosco 31-24 for the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title. The Monarchs, looking for a fifth HSFA national title. will play No. 6 De La Salle on December 14.
