Mater Dei is now in great position to win a possible fifth High School Football America national championship. The Monarchs, who are No. 1 in the High School Football America California Top 25 high school football rankings and our national rankings, powered by the NFL Play Football, solidified their spot in both rankings with a 31-15 win over No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) last Friday.
No. 2 St. John Bosco, which plays Mater Dei on October 25, has a big one this week against No. 8 Serra (San Mateo). The Braves picked-up an impressive 38-28 win over No. 13 Sierra Canyon.
Orange Lutheran, who will play Bishop Gorman this week, continues its climb in our statewide rankings with a 15-13 win over national power St. Frances Academy (Maryland). OLu is No. 3 in our rankings created with a proprietary algorithm.
Aside from the Bosco/Serra game, there are two other head-to-head Top 25 matchups this weekend:
- No. 5 JSerra at No. 15 Lincoln (San Diego)
- No. 18 Oaks Christian at No. 6 Santa Margarita
