John Curtis’ drive for a record 27th Louisiana high school football championship ended Saturday at the Superdome with a 20-14 loss to Catholic (Baton Rouge), which won its second overall title in three years. Curtis entered the game ranked No. 24 in the High School Football America Top 100.

The game was tied at 14 midway through the fourth quarter, but two Preston Stafford kicked two field goals (20 and 43 yards) in the final 2:33 to give the Bears (11-3) the championship.
