There’s a new No. 1 in the High School Football America Alabama Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. Central (Phenix City) moves into the top slot after Clay-Chalkville beat former No. 1 Thompson on national television.
C-C moves from No. 8 to No. 3 after its 36-33 win over the the 4-time reigning 7A champs. Thompson drops to No. 4 this week.
Thompson will try to get back into the win column when it plays No. 5 Hewitt-Trussville. The winner is likely to go on to win the Class 7A Region 3 championship.
Central will try to take another step toward a 7A Region 2 title. The Red Devils host Top 10 newcomer Dothan. Central (4-0) is the only team in the region without a loss. No. 10 Dothan brings a 3-1 region mark into the contest.
Mountain Brook enters the Top 10 at No. 9 this week after beating former No. 9 Hoover. The loss drops Hoover out of our statewide rankings. It’s the first time ever that the Bucs haven’t been in our Top 10.
