Chicago’s Mt. Carmel claims a record 16th Illinois high school football state championship

Chicago’s Mt. Carmel football program now owns the most high school football state championships in the state of Illinois. Saturday, the Caravan, ranked No. 4 in the High School Football America Illinois Top 10 high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football, beat Batavia 55-34 for the 7A state title, the school’s 16th overall and third straight.

MC and Joliet Catholic entered this weekend’s championship games with 15 state title apiece. JC lost to Nazareth Academy in the 5A championship.
