The crown jewel of Georgia high school football is the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic. The 33rd annual kickoff classic was played this weekend with ten games over four days.

Saturday’s quadruple-header at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, featured five teams in the Preseason High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

Below is a recap of every game.

Saturday Games

No. 105 Douglas County 42, No. 213 Cedar Grove 7

No. 105 Douglas County rolled by reigning 3A champ Cedar Grove in the finale at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. DJ Bordeaux was 12-of-23 passing for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

No. 195 North Gwinnett 39, McEachern 17

Ryan Hall tossed three touchdown passes as No. 195 North Gwinnett rolled by McEachern 39-17.

No. 224 Houston County 57, Alpharetta 10

Memphis-commit Antwann Hill, Jr. had a huge game completing 25-of-35 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns in Houston County’s rout of Alpharetta. Hill was a 2023 High School Football America Academic All-American.

Gavin Kurpis scored five touchdown, two through the air and three on the ground.

No. 49 Walton 30, Brookwood 21

Senior quarterback Kaeden Gilstrap tossed two touchdown passes to lead No. 49 Walton to a 30-21 win over Brookwood. Gilstrap, who’s given his verbal to Wofford, was 8-of-19 for 142 yards. He also ran 9 times for 83 yards.

Cass 42, Callaway 7

Cass scored on its first five possessions on the way to a 42-7 win over Callaway in a game that w rain-out Friday in Rome and play at Cass on Saturday. West Virginia-commit Brodie McWhorter tossed four touchdown passes in the win.

Friday Games

Hebron Christian 48, Therrell 0

Devon Caldwell ran for three scores and Thomas Stallworth passed for two in Hebron Christian’s 48-0 shutout victory over Therrell.

No. 86 Creekside vs. No. 89 Rome – Cancelled

Thursday Games

Prince Avenue Christian 35, West Forsyth 28

Prince Avenue‘s is off-and-rolling toward possibly winning a third straight state championship. The Wolverines opened with a 35-28 win over West Forsyth Thursday night.

The question of who will replace state record-setting quarterback Aaron Philo was announced. Sophomore Ben Musser is the answer.

Musser ran for 192 yards and a score, plus passed for 94 and two TDs.

Philo, now a freshman at Georgia Tech, holds the state record for career passing yards (13,922).

After winning back-to-back Class 1A Division I titles, PAC is in 2A for the next two years.

Dunwoody 24, South Paulding 7

After making the playoffs for the first time since 2009 last year, Dunwoody is off to a 1-0 start in 2024. The Wildcats beat South Paulding 24-7 Thursday night at West Forsyth High School.

Dunwoody’s defense was outstanding throughout, pitching a shutout in the second half behind junior linebacker Trevor Thompson, who had 11 solo tackles (14 total tackles) with two sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss and an interception.

Wednesday Games

Kell 29, North Atlanta 15

Kell sophomore running back Moonie Gipson was the game MVP as Kell defeated North Atlanta. Gipson carried the ball 22 times for 169 yards with two touchdowns in the victory.

Douglass-Atlanta 18, LaGrange 3

LaGrange jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Douglass, but after that it was all Astros. Douglass had an outstanding defensive performance, holding the Grangers to just 133 yards in total offense. Andreco Griggs led the way with 10 tackles, six solo, one sack and one tackle for loss.

Offensively, Astro quarterback John Wilson completed 9-of-16 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown.

No. 195 North Gwinnett vs. McEachern – 4 PM

Saturday August 17 at Callaway High School

Callaway vs. Cass – 6 PM
