The third annual Nike Football Kickoff Classic will feature girls’ high school flag teams from Alaska and Louisiana. South Anchorage will play De La Salle at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon on August 22.

The game is a collaboration between Nike and the NFL, amplifying the kickoff of the high school football season. It allows each of the participating high school teams to play in one of the most unique experiences in the country.

The experience at Nike will also student-athletes learn about the history of Nike and its relationship with the NFL. Student-athletes will get an opportunity to hear from former Nike/NFL Ambassadors about why they love football, learn about professional development from some of the best in sports and tour one of the most robust campuses in the world.

“The Nike Football Kickoff Classic brings fresh excitement to the start of the high school football season. For the third consecutive year, Nike has given us something to look forward to as the season begins,” said Roman Oben, Vice President of NFL Football Development.

This year, the Nike Football Kickoff Classic will be streamed live on the NFL YouTube channel, with NFL Network re-airing the Classic on Saturday, August 31.

Alaska sanctioned girls’ flag as a varsity sport in 2006. Last month, De La Salle won the the New Orleans Saints inaugural girls’ flag championship.
