For the third time in the last four years, a high school football quarterback from Texas is the MVP of the Elite 11 quarterback competition. Duncanville senior-to-be Keelon Russell, who recently flipped his college football commitment from SMU to Alabama, won the award at the end of the 3-day competition at Mira Costa High School in Southern California.
The 4-star college football prospect led Duncanville to its second-straight Texas 6A Division I state title in last season. The Panthers finished No. 10 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.
Russell completed 72-percent of his passes for 3,483 yards with 38 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
The Elite 11 MVP was won by Clemson’s Cade Klubnik of Westlake in 2021 and Oklahoma’s Jackson Arnold of Denton Guyer in 2022.
