27 former Florida high school football players were taken in the 2017 NFL Draft that was held in Philadelphia. Florida had the second most players taken with Georgia leading the way with 29.  The 27 is amazing considering that there wasn’t a pick from Florida until the 38th pick.

According to FloridaHSFootball.com, it was the first time since 2009 that the Sunshine State didn’t have a player picked in the first round.

Cypress Bay and Lakewood were the big winners with two former players taken each.  Minnesota took Cypress Bay grad Danny Isidora with the 180th pick, while  Cleveland took former Lightning running back Matthew Dayes with the next to last pick at No. 252.

Lakewood’s Shaquill Griffin was taken at No. 90 by the Seattle Seahawks, while Minnesota took wide receiver Rodney Adams with the 170th pick.
