Brock Huard is the new tight ends coach at Valor Christian in Colorado. The former NFL quarterback told the Real Hawk Talk Podcast that he’s leaving his current role as the No. 2 color commentator on FOX Sports’ college football broadcasts to be an assistant coach on his son’s high school football team in Highlands Ranch.

Huard’s son Titus will be a sophomore at VC this season. Like dad, Titus plays quarterback. Despite not playing a lot at the varsity last year, Stetson has already offered the younger Huard a scholarship.

“These are years…these formative years for my son, who’s going to be a sophomore…these are years I’ll never ever get back and I’m going to jump into it,” Huard told the podcast.

While he’s leaving the college football broadcasting booth, Huard said he’s leaving the door open to possibly do some NFL games.

Quarterback is a family business for the Huard family. Aside from Titus’ dad, Brock, his uncles Damon and Luke also played QB.

Brock’s professional career began when he was selected in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He spent most of his career as a backup, including two years behind future Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning with the Indianapolis Colts.

During the 2000 season, Brock and Damon became the first brothers in NFL history to start at quarterback on the same weekend. Brock started for the Seahawks against the Denver Broncos. Damon was the Miami Dolphins‘ starter against the Colts.

The youngest Huard, Luke, played collegiately at the University of North Carolina. Unlike Damon and Brock, he didn’t play professionally. Instead, he went into high school coaching in 2002. He is currently the offensive coordinator at USC.

All three Huard brothers played at Puyallup High School in Washington.

Brock told the Real Hawk Talk Podcast that another reason he decided to take his first coaching job was to join Mike Sanford, who was hired last month as Valor Christian’s new head coach.
