Everyone should be excited about the Georgia Class 7A playoffs. Why am I saying that on September 28? Well, the state’s largest classification is deep with talent and so far during the regular season, the top teams are taking turns beating up on each other.
For example…Preseason No. 1 Colquitt County was beaten by Valdosta, leading to Marietta ascending to No. 1 in the High School Football America Georgia Top 25. The Blue Devils were knocked from the top spot by Grayson.
Friday night, former No. 1 Colquitt County created the last twist in the road with a convincing 31-7 win over Grayson. The Packers got out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back in a game that saw Daijun Edwards become the school’s all-time leading rusher and touchdown king.
Edwards finished the night with 3,870 career yards, surpassing Shiheim King, who’s currently at Kentucky. His two touchdowns also set a new record of 60 for his career, which also passed King’s record of 59.
Both teams now own 4-1 records.
