Sterling Carvalho is out as the head coach at Kahuku High School.
According to Hawaii News Now, at the end of March, Kahuku principal wrote a letter to the parents of student athletes stating, “Coach Sterling Carvalho will no longer be serving as the head coach of the KHIS football program.”
Carvalho led the Red Raiders to four straight Open Division title games, winning three straight state championships in 2021, 2022 and 2023. His overall record was 58-19.
Kahaku has been a regular in the High School Football America 300 national rankings, powered by NFL Play Football. The Red Raiders highest ranking was No. 15 in 2023. Last year, the school finished finished No. 164 in the nation.
The school is expected to name an interim head coach while it looks for a new one.
