High School Football America 300 national rankings – Week 14

High School Football America 300 national high school football rankings powered by NFL Play Football
gamestrat high school football sideline instant replay

Mater Dei (California) is two wins away from winning back-to-back High School Football America national championship and fifth overall since 2017. Standing in the way of that first win is an old nemesis, No. 5 St. John Bosco (California).

The two have won six of the last seven HSFA national championships, powered by NFL Play Football. Mater Dei won the national crowns in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Bosco won the national title in 2019 and 2022.

Friday night, at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach, the two Trinity League heavyweights will square-off for the second time this year. A little more than a month ago, Mater Dei blasted SJB 59-14. Friday’s game will be for the CIF Southern Section Division I title and a berth in the Open Division State championship game in a couple of weeks.

This will be the third year in a row that these two will square-off for a Part II in the same season. The bad news for Mater Dei is the loser of the first game has won the rematch in 2022 and 2023.

It will be the eighth time over the last ten years that these two have played twice in the same season. Five times the winner of the first game, lost the second one. In 2017, Mater Dei won both games. The only time St. John Bosco did it was in 2013.

If Bosco beats Mater Dei, that will open the door for No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Nevada), No. 3 Milton (Georgia) and No. 4 Duncanville (Texas). It also puts SJB into the national championship chat.

Tuesday, Gorman will play No. 109 Arbor View for the Nevada Class 5A Division I state championship. The game will be played at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL‘s Las Vegas Raiders. The Gaels have won 13 of the last 14 championships in the state’s largest classification.

In Georgia, Milton is in the state quarterfinals. The Eagles will face No. 196 Houston County Friday night in Class 5A. Seven of the eight remaining teams in 5A are ranked in the HSFA 300 that is created with our proprietary algorithm.

Duncanville is in Round 3 of the Texas Class 6A Division I playoffs. The 11-0 Panthers face No. 207 The Woodlands.
