For the first time this year, the top five teams hold their spots in the High School Football America 300 national high school football rankings, powered by NFL Play Football.

No. 1 Mater Dei (California), No. 2 St. John Bosco (California) and No. 3 Bishop Gorman (Nevada) all picked-up impressive wins against teams in the Top 50.

Four-time national champ Mater Dei left the mainland and returned with its third win. The Monarchs. defeated No. 43 Kahuku 38-7. Next-up for MD is St. Francis Academy (Maryland), which is coming off a hard-fought 28-24 loss to two-time Texas 6A Division I state champ Duncanville.

The loss drops SFA from No. 11 to No. 13 this week. Duncanville moves up a notch to No. 6.

St. John Bosco rolled to a 56-16 win over No. 49 Serra (San Mateo, California). The Braves, who are now 4-0, will close-out their non-league schedule next week against No. 129 Pittsburg (California).

Bishop Gorman rebounded from its loss to Mater Dei by beating Orange Lutheran 55-28. OLu drops from No. 10 to No. 12 in the latest rankings created with HSFA’s proprietary algorithm.

Aside from Mater Dei and St. Frances Academy, there’s two other head-to-head matchups inside the Top 25 this week.

In Florida, No. 14 Venice will square-off with No. 14 Cocoa. And, in Ohio, No. 22 St. Edward, the state’s reigning three-time Division I champs, play defending Division II champ Massillon Washington, currently ranked No. 25.
