The Southern California showdown between No. 1 Mater Dei and No. 2 St. John Bosco is here. The two titans will play this Friday before a packed house with the Trinity League title on the line, along with the top spot in our national rankings and California Top 25, powered by NFL Play Football.

Mater Dei (7-0), our reigning national champ, has won four national titles since 2017. St. John Bosco (8-0) won our national championships in 2019 and 2022.

In Florida, No. 13 Venice (7-1) picked-up another quality win on Friday. The Indians beat No. 36 Clearwater Central Catholic 27-20. It was the first loss of the year for CCC.

Venice now owns wins over No. 69 Northwestern (Miami, Florida), No. 54 Cocoa (Florida) and No. 134 Tampa Bay Tech (Florida). The Indians only loss was to No. 6 IMG Academy (Florida).

Ohio’s Archbishop Moeller climbs 26 spots this week to No. 59 after beating No. 62 St. Edward (Ohio) 35-30.

Georgia’s Rabun Gap-Nacoochee moves up 19 spots to No. 51 after taking-down three-time defending North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Division I champ Providence Day (North Carolina). The Chargers drop two spots to No. 63 in the latest rankings created with our proprietary algorithm.

Alabama’s Oxford makes its first appearance of the year in the HSFA 300 at No. 278. The Yellow Jackets break into the national rankings after beating former No. 39 Clay-Chalkville 21-10. CC drops to No. 122.

Oxford is one of seven new entrants in the HSFA 300 this week:

  • No. 207 Warren Central (Indiana)
  • No. 278 Oxford (Alabama)
  • No. 284 Edison (Huntington Beach, California)
  • No. 290 Frenship (Texas)
  • No. 295 Osceola (Kissimmee, Florida)
  • No. 296 San Juan Hills (California)
  • No. 300 Yorba Linda (California)

Aside from the Bosco/Mater Dei showdown, there’s big Top 25 head-to-head in Texas.

No. 9 North Shore (Texas) will be on the road to face No. 19 Atascocita (Texas) for first place in District 23-6A.

There are two big interstate matchups this weekend.

No. 6 IMG Academy (Florida) will be in Illinois to play No. 33 East St. Louis. In Florida, Clearwater Central Catholic will look to rebound from its loss to Venice against No. 12 St. Frances Academy (Maryland)
