Defending 6A champ Oak Grove is hoping to finally get the 2021 season started this weekend against Seminary. The Warriors, who are the No. 1 team in the first in-season High School Football America Mississippi Top 10 powered by NFL Play Football, have been sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols.

West Point has also been the victim of COVID protocols. The Green Wave is forfeiting its first two games against Louisville (last week) and No. 5 Starkville (this week).

The biggest surprise of the season is No. 3 Greenville Christian, the defending 3A Mid-South Association of Independent Schools champ. The Saints, who are ranked No. 112 in the High School Football America national rankings, have already beaten 6A powers Madison-Ridgeland Academy and Jackson Prep.

This week, Greenville Christian travels to Georgia to face Collins Hill, the 2020 Georgia 7A runner-up. Collins Hill is currently ranked No. 51 in the Top 100 and No. 2 in the state of Georgia.
