National power IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida is advertising for a new head football coach for its national team. Friday, IMG posted that it is accepting applications for the position to replace Billy Miller, who has been rumored to become part of Bill Belichick’s staff at North Carolina.

On Wednesday, IMG released the following statement on Miller’s resignation:
Billy Miller has resigned from his position as IMG Academy National Football Team Head Coach to pursue other opportunities.
Since 2014, Coach Miller has been an integral part of our football program, serving in various roles. In his tenure as head coach, he led our national team to a 25-3 record, including a national championship last season. While we will greatly miss his leadership and the impact he has made on our student-athletes, we remain confident in our program’s strong foundation of leadership, coaches, and support staff, who will continue to uphold the highest standards of student-athlete development.
The national football team head coach position at IMG Academy is the premier high school football coaching job in the nation, and we expect significant interest from top candidates as we work to have a new head coach in place by this spring.
MIller took over the national team in 2022. Over the last three seasons, he’s led the program to a 25-3 record.

MIller is no stranger to working with Belichick. In 2014, Miller special teams scouting assistant with the New England Patriots. Prior to that, he spent two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Miller replaced former NFL linebacker Pepper Johnson, who led the program to a 9-1 season last year. The Ascenders finished No. 16 in our 2021 national rankings.
Johnson took-over for Bobby Acosta, who left IMG after leading the school to its first-ever national championship during the 2020. Acosta took the head coach job at Del Valle High School in Austin, Texas.
Acosta replaced Kevin Wright, who took at college coaching job at the Indiana University. During his 5-years at IMG, Wright led the program to a 44-2 record.
Former NFL quarterback Chris Weinke wa the program’s original coach from 2013 through 2014.
